Xaar currently has factories in the UK and Sweden as well as offices in China, India, US and Japan. The company claims the appointment of a representative for New Zealand and Australia will complete its global presence.

Don McCallum, sales engineer for Xaar Australasia says printers in the region will benefit from having one of the world leaders in digital ink jet nearby.

He says, “The benefits of ink jet were seen at drupa and people saw that we were at the fore front of the technology. If Xaar users are having difficulties or need information, we will work with printers to develop new printing techniques or recommend a relevant original equipment manufacturer.”

McCallum continues that as well as looking to support the Xaar equipment in the region, the company has identified a number of new market opportunities.

He adds, “We have a strong presence in the wide format, grand format, marking and coating markets. But we plan to move in to other markets including printing applications, labelling, textiles, ceramics, outer case cartons and industrial applications.”

McCallum concludes, “Digital printing is the future of printing, so we have to make sure Australia and New Zealand doesn’t miss out on the technology.”
