Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions has named the five continental winners of its Wrap Like a King Challenge for 2019.

Melanie Fergin of Winguard Paint Protect Specialists in Adelaide won the title for Australia and New Zealand for the wrap of the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S Techart GTstreet R. She is also the first woman to win the crown for the region.

Fergin says, “I’m honoured to be recognised as the continental winner for Australia and New Zealand. This wrap installation for the Porsche GT Street R is one of the most complex yet rewarding wraps I’ve ever done. A big thank you to the incredible effort and dedication of the Winguard team who made this car look so good and achieve a paint-like finish.

“I also want to thank the car’s owner, Scott Bormann, for his vision and trust in our team, and massive thanks to Avery Dennison for organising this global challenge, giving us vehicle wrappers something extra to work towards.”

Jordan Leach, senior business manager at Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions Australia & New Zealand, says, “It is an outstanding entry and we wish Melanie the very best as she heads to Las Vegas for the finals of the Wrap Like a King challenge.”

For the other continents: Sharpline Signs and Graphics took home the title for the South Africa region for the sharpline drift car wrap of Eric the Viking; MetroWrapz from North America won for its Creature from the Wrap Lagoon work; while WraoStyle from Europe won for its BMW M135i Artist wrap; and for North Asia, Shanghai DC Town Auto Service Co took home the award for its Wrap Like a King 2019 – SLS AMG work.

The competition received entries from wrap installers in 55 countries. Judges evaluated the submissions based on the following criteria: visual transformation based on the difference between the before and after pictures submitted, quality and skill level of installation, overall public look and appeal, and uniqueness of the design.

Fergin will head to Las Vegas to participate in the finals of the Wrap Like a King challenge between November 4 and 8.

At the 2019 SEMA Show, judges will choose the overall winner who will receive the title King of the Wrap World and a prize package worth almost US$5000, with additional gift vouchers and exposure via Avery Dennison.
