The World Packaging Organisation has elected Pierre Pienaar as its president, taking over from Tom Schneider, who held the role for six years.
Pienaar, well known in the local packaging industry, will take over in January next year. He has held the position of WPO vice-president for Education for a number of years and has helped establish the training programmes for developing countries across the globe.
He currently works as director for education for the Australian Institute of Packaging, for which he has held the role of national president and is a fellow as well.
Pienaar holds a masters degree in production management and a master of science degree.
WPO made the announcement during Interpack.
