Reporting an increase in profit and market share in the financial year of 2015, manroland web systems expects profitability to grow even further this year.

Citing a profit margin of around three per cent, the printing press manufacturer says its result increases to €6.2m ($10.39m), adding that its market share in new press business for web offset systems grew to 45 per cent from 36 per cent the previous year. Incoming orders taken by the company group grew by more than 10 per cent to around €260m in comparison to 2014.

The company says its restructuring measures from 2014, as well as the improved situation in use of capacities, have had a major impact. Jörn Gossé, managing director at manroland web systems, says, “In 2015, the manroland web systems company group generated a positive operating result of €6.2m before interest and taxes. An order backlog in new press business of more than €150m gives reason to expect good use of factory capacities and a further increase in profitability for manroland web systems in 2016.”

Excluding external personnel and trainees, the company had a total staff of 1200 worldwide, 1068 of them at its Augsburg site in Germany. It will take on all trainees and young skilled workers who finish training in 2016. The company currently trains 63 young people in various technical and commercial professions and will offer 16 new traineeship placements starting in September.

In 2015, upgrades included the press relocation and a Geoman reconfiguration by Fairfax Media in Petone, Wellington. Successful start-ups included a Colorman e:line at Druckhaus Bamberg and an order for a Cromoman 4-1 placed by Namasthe Telangana in India. Other successful projects include equipping Lithoman systems the new InlineCutoff Control dynamic and long-term service contracts. The company see growing demand in the USA and the West European market.

The company has developed its digital postpress business. It has received orders worldwide for its FoldLine and FormerLine Inline-Finishing units.

For 2016, manroland web systems says it wants to develop its market position in newspapers and commercial web offset further and remain an innovative driver in industrial digital printing. It sees drupa 2016 in Düsseldorf as the ideal platform.
