The company has entered the B1 market for the first time, with its new Ryobi 1050 Ryobi says it has made every effort to ensure consistent print quality, superior productivity, versatility, user friendliness, high value-added printing and network capability. Specifically, a new level of operability is achieved through advanced systems such as the Ryobi PQS, which enables inline printing quality control, and the Ryobi PCS-L dual-monitor printing control system.

The 1050 series can feed stock up to 1,085x780mm, and is available in two types to handle a printing area of 1,050x710mm (S type) or 1,050x770mm (XL type).

The printing unit consists of a double-diameter impression cylinder and a double-diameter transfer drum. These cylinders, which have a large curvature ratio, transport paper with minimum flapping, providing stable paper transport even when printing on heavy stock.

The RYOBI 1050 series has been designed with moveable shell type skeleton transfer drums. Different print stock types and thicknesses can be accommodated by shifting the shell, ensuring consistent print quality by minimizing scratching and marking of print stock. For printing on heavy card stock, the shell sections are closed inside the transfer drum. For printing on lightweight stock, the transfer drum can be opened by attaching the shell sections.

The new Ryobi PCS-L Printing Control System uses dual operation monitors. Simultaneous display of two setting screens facilitates easy job setup and greatly improves operability. Ryobi Program Inking automatically sets the conversion curve for each colour according to the image area ratio data calculated at prepress. The ink settings, ink fountain roller speed, and number of contacts by the ink ductor roller are all controlled based on the conversion curves to assure the optimum ink volume. This function allows the operator to proceed quickly to the next job, minimizing the amount of wasted paper generated at the start of printing.

The press can also print on stock from a lightweight 0.04 mm (0.0016″) to a heavy 0.6 mm (0.024″)*. A single press has the flexibility to print commercial jobs such as posters, large newspaper inserts and pamphlets as well as labels and packaging. An option is available to enable printing on 1 mm (0.039″) stock.

Ryobi has introduced its newly developed inline UV casting system that further advanced the high value-added printing delivered its 750 series B2-size multi-colour offset printing presses, and Ryobi has delivered the world’s first in-line casting capabilities.

The inline UV casting and foiling system incorporated into RYOBI 750 series presses enables inline casting that adds hologram effects and foiling to printed matter.

By bringing high value-added holographic coating or foiling inline, productivity is raised and advanced holographic coating can be delivered with stable registration accuracy. Holograms and foiling are used in diverse printing market, such as publishing, advertisement, and security, with various examples including POP displays, commemorative gifts, novelties, greeting cards, stickers, gift wrapping, and packaging, as well as other original goods, tickets, gift certificates and the like.

After printing and coating with UV varnish, the relief texture and holographic pattern of the film are transferred to the UV varnish, then the printed surface is cured by UV light to produce the holographic effect. For foiling after printing and applying the UV cure glue with the printing unit or coating unit, the film-based foil is covered on the printed surface. Then the UV lamp is irradiated to fix the foil firmly. When the glue is applied in the coating unit, foiling with superior adhesive strength is ensured.

Finally Ryobi launched the newly developed, cost-performance 522GE two-colour A3-plus size and 524GE four-colour A3-plus size offset printing presses.

The new Ryobi 520GE series has plate register remote control (vertical, lateral, diagonal), which can make adjustments in increments of 0.01 mm. It also has semiautomatic plate changer, an optional automatic cleaning device, and comes with PCS-J Printing Control System (this is an option on the 522GE).
