Swug has confirmed that this year’s conference will include a full menu of local and international speakers ; a plant tour; awards evening and a networking dinner/quiz.

The Print with Passion event, set down for August 19-20 at the Qualmark Millennium Hotel in Rotorua, the conference will welcome around 150 delegates and suppliers. Dan Blackbourn, chairman at Swug, says, “We have never before taken the conference to Rotorua and the fact that it is an attractive tourist destination and centrally-located certainly assisted in the decision.

“We have a great line up of presentations covering a myriad of interesting print topics along with a few ‘Who Am I’ addresses. There will also be several informative print site presentations, given there has been a fair bit of upgrading and moving of plants in New Zealand in recent times.

“Our guest speaker Sir Ray Avery will discuss his life and latest invention: incubators designed for Third World countries. This presentation will amaze as attendees learn about the award-winning pharmaceutical scientist and the things he has accomplished in the pursuit of helping others.

“With Swug Australia not having a conference this year, we have invited and had a really good uptake from the Australian print fraternity. This will certainly add to what is expected to be another fantastic conference.”

Thursday’s programme includes the site visit to Norske Skog in Kawerau, formerly the Tasman Pulp and Paper Company and later the networking dinner/quiz night.
