MW stands for Minimized Waste in gravure printing which is indicative of the main characteristics and advantages of this new concept, says Rotomec.

The company says the new press represents Rotomec’s latest technological breakthrough in terms of press configuration and profitability for short and very short run printing of flexible packaging and covers market requirements for medium web equipment as a cost effective alternative to web offset and other printing systems.

The MW 60 is suitable for printing on aluminium (i.e. pharmaceutical applications) and labels. It is a gravure line that eliminates the need of trolleys and is suitable for using either lightweight printing cylinders, sleeves or traditional cylinders. The press is extremely compact in size: the overall web path is very short (50 m for a 10c press) and in combination with an innovative ventilation system concept, it minimises the waste of material and ink, as well as heat consumption. It also guarantees a minimum solvent retention on the printed material.
