Roland DG has launched the VersaUV LEF-200, a benchtop UV printer that features a new on-board primer ink option.
Greg Stone, product and marketing manager of Roland DG Australia, says “With the LEF-200, you can print rich colour directly onto a wide range of personalised consumer products and promotional items such as smartphone cases, pens, awards, giftware, plates and more.”
The new primer ink option, also compatible with the LEF-300, allows users to prep an object for customisation before printing a full-colour graphic. Stone says, “This makes adding graphics to glass, plastics and other challenging media so much more clean and efficient.”
Available in New Zealand from Aarque Graphics, the 51cm wide LEF-200 prints full-colour, white, clear and primer inks on a variety of materials, including three-dimensional items, up to 100mm thick. The new Roland VersaWorks Dual RIP software simplifies the process of producing graphics with special effects.
Operators can use clear ink spot gloss or matte finishes and embossing effects. They can use white ink as a spot colour or as a flood behind CMYK on dark backgrounds or clear materials. To meet individual business requirements, users can choose from three ink configurations: CMYK+White+Primer, CMYK+White+Clear, and CMYK+White+White.
Stone adds, “We also added usability enhancements to the LEF-200 for greater efficiency.”
The Roland VersaWorks Dual enables users to work with PostScript files and for native processing of PDF files to ensure transparency effects are processed accurately. In addition, white or clear ink data can be generated easily in the RIP, ideal for use in producing transparent personalised accessories with special effects.
He says, “With the growing desire for personalisation that reflects individual preferences and lifestyles, the market for on-demand printing onto various articles is expected to expand still further in the future. In recent years, we have seen an increasing number of businesses using our VersaUV LEF printers to provide custom printing of smartphone cases and accessories. With the LEF-200’s greater versatility for applications and usability, we continue to provide the best solutions to support custom print services providers both online and offline.”
