Printex1 organisers say this year’s forums will cover the challenges facing the print industry and specific technologies, which with proper knowledge can propel print businesses into the future and help them fly.

Divided into three concurrent streams sessions,  the Industry Insights Theatre, the Business & Efficiency Theatre and the Technology & Innovation Theatre , the forums will run at locations around the show floor at Sydney Olympic Park from May 13 to 15.

Richard Harris, commercial director of ADMA, will head the Using Data to Reach Your Customer session. He says print and graphic communications professionals are ideally placed to ‘step up’ and take advantages of the new opportunities available in a data-driven marketing. Harris says, “This session will explain how print and personalised communications fit into the marketing technology mix, how you can position your business to capitalise on the opportunities created by data-driven marketing, and give you some examples of current best practice.”

Two Sides Australia executive director Kellie Northwood will discuss the findings of the Value of Paper and Print report, which she says confirms the continuing relevance of paper-based communications in a multi-channel world. She says, “Visitors to this session will learn about the latest local and global consumer research and find out why print media is still such a compelling channel, connecting with consumers across all demographics and driving them to action.”

John O’Neill, who was in the music industry managing careers before joining the print industry, will lead a session called Managing Change – Stories from Other IndustriesThis theatre will also host an update on the NBN and explorations of key opportunities like 3D printing and ‘products of the future’ like polymers and printed circuits.

The Technology & Innovation Theatre will host industry suppliers, such as HP, Ricoh, Epson and Fuji-Xerox among several others, who will present sessions specific to their own areas of expertise. The forums, free for registered visitors, will have limited places at each session so seating will be available on a first come, first served basis.
