The Packaging Council of New Zealand has partnered with the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) and the Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Manufacturers Association (APPMA) for a fresh awards programme. The collaborators made an announcement at a gala dinner in Melbourne last week. The Packaging & Processing Innovation and Design Awards, known as PIDAs, brings awards programmes from New Zealand and Australia together for the first time.

Sharon Humphreys, executive director for the Packaging Council of New Zealand, says, “The PIDAs will recognise innovative packaging and processing designs, from materials through to packaging and machinery. This amalgamation of awards means that the industry now offers a clear and cohesive awards programme for its members across Australia and New Zealand. “The PIDAs will serve as the exclusive access point to the prestigious World Star Awards, creating global recognition for New Zealand and Australian innovations each year. Because the Packaging Council of New Zealand and the AIP already possess the necessary experience and knowledge in running awards programmes, we can work out how best to develop the programme.” The New Zealand PIDAs will launch later this year and the Australian version will roll out in March 2017 alongside Auspack. From there, they will determine how best to merge the Australasian programme.
