The couple have just installed a Plockmatic BM60 booklet maker and Squarefold attachment through CPI to assist regular existing clients who require newsletters and booklets on a monthly basis.Sharon says they previously used a smaller booklet maker more suited to institutions like schools that simply wasn’t up to the task of putting together bulkier jobs for a busy print centre like theirs.
“If the booklets were over a certain number of pages, we’d have to do them all by hand. Then we’d leave them overnight under a pile of paper reams to flatten them out. It was very time consuming and difficult,” she says.
“With this new booklet maker, we can put them in one end and they come out the other within minutes. We can do up to 22 sheets and almost all grades of paper for the covers. We can handle A5 up to A3.”
Sharon says the quality is noticeably better than before and customers love the square edge the attachment gives their booklets.
“It makes it look like perfect binding and they are very pleased with that.”
The couple first saw the booklet maker advertised in Inky earlier this year and decided they would like to take a look.
“Ian Gillanders (from CPI) took us to the travel company in Parnell that had just installed their Plockmatic and we were impressed,” says Sharon.
She says that with their main customer base being local businesses, it is important to have the latest equipment to keep the quality of the work they produce at the highest possible standard.
The couple have operated their busy Mt Eden Payless Copy Centre for the past 10 years, and it is one of the longest established businesses in the area where many firms come and go.
Their copy shop is located right next to a Post Shop/Kiwibank outlet along Dominion Road.
Payless Copy offers a range of services from business cards to personalised calendars, newsletters, small booklets and magazines through to annual reports. They typically offer wiro and glue binding and will lend a hand when it comes to design.
