The production system, introduced into Australia this year, took top honours in the category of production cut-sheet monochrome printing.

The EDP is an association founded to support and promote the growing digital print industry. EDP was established by seven of Europe's leading digital print magazines representing a combined readership of 80,000 professionals.

In announcing the award, the European Digital Press Association said that only the best products were considered and that recognition by EDP signified the "highest quality to professionals and end users."

The Océ VarioPrint 6250 is claimed to be the world's most productive duplex, cut sheet digital printer with breakthrough performance at 250 letter-size duplex prints per minute. The system uses Océ Gemini Instant Duplex technology to support single-pass duplexing for outstanding speed, offset-class quality, higher productivity and reliability, and smooth integration. As a result, both corporate and commercial users can reduce costs, increase profitability, improve productivity and enhance efficiency.

A technical committee of independent consultants, editors, engineers and other related professionals evaluated a range of digital press products, including high-speed cut-sheet printers, wide format systems, software offerings and printing consumables. Selection criteria included efficiency, performance, quality/price ratio, design, and ease of use. The judges applied strict standards in their selections, and as a result, each EDP award is synonymous with innovation and quality. EDP member editors also participated in selecting the winning products.
