Set up as an education trust in 1977 to help people in the industry get ahead, the trust makes grants to fund such things as course fees, seminars, training facilities and sponsorships.

It has just printed 5000 copies of its new brochure at Wyatt & Wilson Print in Christchurch and these were posted out with the October PrintNZ Training newsletter and will be distributed widely in the printing industry.

Several employees at Wyatt & Wilson Print have applied for funding from Trust 4 Skills to complete further training, including Outward Bound courses.

Christine Young, a graphic communication apprentice at Wyatt & Wilson, decided to go on an Outward Bound course to get out of her comfort zone. She had also heard great things about the course after some of her workmates had taken part. Having enjoyed the kayaking Christine now plans to join a local kayaking club.

Earlier this year Brent Martin who is completing a paperboard packaging apprenticeship at Ryco Dies Ltd in Auckland also completed an Outward Bound course.

Brent says his Outward Bound experience was "awesome" and he recommends the experience to other apprentices and trainees in the industry.

The trust is hosted by PrintNZ.
