The Dunedin copy shop and printing firm recently installed a Morgana Autocreaser 33, through CPI, with the intention of speeding up its customer service.

Bob Pryde, director of Speedprint says "People think we should be called Miracle Print – and we can do miracles, but they take a little longer." He says it is this customer focus, and the fact that Speedprint regularly upgrades its technology, which has kept it in the forefront of Dunedin's print market since its inception over 30 years ago.

Seeing the autocreaser in operation at another printer in Dunedin provided Pryde with the impetus to purchase it; a decision he doesn't regret. He says, "It is brilliant for short run work and it means that we don't have to take qualified printers off our presses to crease every job that comes along. It has definitely sped up production times and has made us even more efficient than we were."

Wanting Speedprint to stay ahead of the market in a competitive environment, he believes the autocreaser has made a difference. He says, "We were always having to stop the presses to crease cards or something, or do them by hand on the guillotine, and you can't store up jobs with a name like ours. People expect their work to be done when it is needed."

Pryde adds that CPI was good to deal with and offered good back up service.

With an offset operation in the Dunedin's commercial heart, Pryde was pleased the machine was so compact that it was no problem fitting it into Speedprint's operation. He says, "We are right next to a bus stop and our premises have large picture windows which enables people to watch as we work."
