Tainui Press Design and Print managing director Dale Ertel told the Waikato Times that Ms Mollekin was solution-orientated and could run his company’s design department.

“Anna has always demonstrated a determination to not only overcome (an) issue, but to fully understand why it occurred and how to avoid it the future,” he said.

Ms Mollekin, 26, completed her apprenticeship in October last year. She is the company’s second winning apprentice. Workmate Jackie Tye won both the Apprentice of the Year award and the Graphic Pre-press category in 2001.

Ms Mollekin grew up in Hamilton before moving to Matamata four years ago. She graduated from Wintec with a Media Arts degree in 2002.

She will line up against five other category winners from around New Zealand for the ultimate printing industry award, the Apprentice of the Year, to be announced in June.
