In Sheetfed Press higher sales, higher productivity and reduced costs led to results that were up by EUR 26 million (NZ$53.5). With this the sheetfed operations achieved the break-even already in the first quarter of 2006.

Thanks to good utilisation and higher sales, the results for the Web Press business area improved by EUR 4 million (NZ$8.2m) to EUR 14 million (NZ$28.8).

Order intake rose by 47%; the order volume in the Web Press rose by 83% and in Sheetfed Presses by 13%. The growth in order intake for the German domestic market was especially strong.

Due to the good order backlog sales, Web Press rose by 46%. Compared to the previous year the Sheetfed Press area started the year with a good order backlog (+57% above the previous year) and increased sales by 29%.

Sales expectations at IPEX were exceeded. With just under 400 sheetfed press printing units sold and thirteen orders for newspaper and commercial web presses MAN Roland finished with an excellent total order value of well over EUR 200 million (NZ$411m).
