Barry started his working career with NZ Rail in 1949 as an apprentice fitter and turner in the Woburn Railway Workshops where all New Zealand trains were sent for maintenance at one time. During this time he was enlisted to do his compulsory military training based at the Linton Army Camp.

He remained as a fitter and turner until 1995 when he joined NZ Labels in Seaview, moving on to Wickliffe Labels when the former was bought out.

Owners Sheryl and Adrian say that Barry was instrumental in taking the company to where it is today with his "can do" attitude, playing an important part in their business.

Mike Quinn has moved into the gap and with his background in Flexo printing he will commission the company's new Mark Andy Press. Mike will follow the flow of jobs from both factories including sheet fed and roll fed and will help Little Labels move into its next expansion phase, they say.
