NZSDA has been gearing up for The New Zealand Sign Display Awards 2023, its flagship event recognising outstanding design and craftsmanship across a broad range of sign-making methods and technologies, attracting hundreds of entries each year.

This year the New Zealand Sign Display Awards 2023 will take place on Saturday, July 8, at the Due Drop Events Centre in Auckland. Entries close on Monday, May 15, so there is still time to visit the awards entry website and enter creative works and crafts.

To “Acknowledge Excellence”, which constitutes part of the awards programme logo, is the primary purpose of the NZ Sign Display Awards, also providing the standard by which all entries are judged.

NZSDA Secretary Melissa Coutts said, “The overall level of entries is high, and the competition for the gold, silver, and bronze medals is fierce. Sponsored by many of New Zealand’s leading sign and graphics suppliers, the annual awards dinner and prize-giving are held throughout New Zealand, reinforcing the event’s national status.”

The association made some changes to the categories, allowing for more flexibility to keep pace with rapidly changing industry innovations. For instance, the Wayfinding and Navigation Category has been reinstated, the Shop Fronts category has been added, and Traditional Handcrafted Signs and Murals & Illustrations have been combined into one category.

NSZDA has also combined 3D Modelling and Dimensional Signage categories into one category, allowed all illuminated signage, including dimensional, in its Illuminated Signs category and changed delivery criteria for the Corporate Brand Category.

The NZSDA will also present three Notable Awards on the night, including a sustainable and best practice Innovation Champion sponsored by Total Supply; Mana Influencer, supported by PSP to celebrate leadership and good character, and finally, Keith Langstone Highflyer Award sponsored by Roland DG recognising commitments to learning for Rising Star Award.

“If you know of someone that represents the above, why not nominate them, and get them acknowledged for their good work in the industry? Head to our website to read about the criteria and to download the nomination forms,” Coutts added.

Entries close on Monday, May 15. More details can be found on the official awards website.
