HP announced that it sold four of its high-end digital printers and presses on the third day of Ipex. HP’s sales for the show stood at more than 10 million Euros (approx $NZ 19.769 million) three days before the show ended, €3 million (NZ$5.9 million) generated purely from EMEA customers.
The company says customers were ordering wide and super-wide format presses such as HP Scitex, HP Indigo and HP Designjet solutions for a range of different applications in EMEA, Asia Pacific and emerging markets, such as Russia.
“With the democratisation of emerging markets, digital printing is particularly attractive for print service providers, with HP providing the tools to produce high quality marketing material for all applications from personalised direct mail to billboards and building wraps,” a spokesman said.
German printer Sommer Corporate Media ordered two of the recently launched HP Indigo press w3250s for the production of high quality car manuals and to facilitate its entry into the fast growing market for photobook applications.
The HP Indigo press w3250 is one of the fastest web-fed digital presses in its class, delivering full colour output of up to 8,000 impressions (A4 images, two up) per hour and print speeds of up to 136ppm when printing four colours and up to 272ppm when printing two colours. With its in-line priming features designed to accept standard offset media, the press offers broad substrate flexibility from 40gsm to 300gsm, enabling printers to serve diverse customer demands.
XeroxCorporation signed several million dollars in contracts for more than 65 digital printing presses, plus related software systems and services.
More than 35,000 visitors toured the Xerox booth, which was the most expansive exhibit of printing technology, software and services at the event.

Image Data Group placed one of the several orders for Xerox iGen3digital presses. The deal includes the option of installing up to 10 machines by the end of 2007, which would make the company one of the largest digital print operations in Europe.
The Polish Ministry of Labour’s Print and Publishing House in Warsaw also placed an order for a Xerox iGen3 press at the show. The digital press will be used for short-run manuals and booklets previously produced on offset presses. The Ministry of Labour’s iGen3press is the second in Poland.
Ipex 2006 proved to be Autobond’s most successful exhibition yet in its 28 year history, with every machine sold off the stand and more than 20 orders for the MINI 76 TPH alone.
Autobond is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sheet-fed film laminators, both thermal and water-based, and is a major supplier of thermal and water-based films and manufacturer of adhesives, which can be used on most makes of laminator.
“We sold a laminator to a printing company in Ireland within the first five minutes of the opening day, which set a precedent for the rest of the show, with sales coming from around the world, including Australia, Canada, France, Holland, Lebanon, Scandinavia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, USA and the UK,” says managing director John Gilmore.
“In addition to the on stand sales, by the end of IPEX, we had generated 1,580 leads, which is phenomenal. It was the largest stand that we’ve ever had, however, it was so successful that we’ve already signed up for an even larger stand at the next Ipex.”
Ipex 2006 was the launch pad for four new Autobond models including the Sheetmaster 105 CTP, the Sheetmaster 76E encapsulator, the Compact 105 TP and the MINI 76 TP.
