Despite having retired from the full time work in industry 19 years ago, Bob retained his membership of the guild where he served in various roles including president.

A compositor by trade, Bob started his own Auckland-based printing business where he worked as a ‘Jack of all trades’ like most small business owners. Hightone Press in Grey Lynn was eventually sold to Scott Printing where Bob continued working for many years.

He was also a keen sportsman having ridden competitively in amateur cycling in his younger days, and in retirement he regularly took groups on short walking tours in the Waitakere Ranges as a ‘keep fit’ option for other retirees. Bob was also known for his great sense of humour.

Bob is survived by his wife Eileen of 56 years, three children, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
