The HP Scitex TJ8500 offers one of the fastest turn-around times on the market with three output speeds, the company says.

In Production Mode it is capable of printing up to 400sqm/hr at 336dpi, enabling users to print 140 1.5×1.8m posters per hour. In Quality Mode the output is 200sqm/hr at 448dpi and in High Quality Mode the printer can reach speeds of 100sqm/hr at apparent 600dpi.

The printer uses HP Scitex UV850 Supreme UV-curable inks, which expands its supported media to include untreated as well as uncoated synthetic materials. The integrated curing system requires a smaller footprint, making the HP Scitex TJ8500 suitable for smaller print shops and printers where space is at a premium.

The new printer generated a lot of interest from visitors, with several orders being placed during the course of the show. The first was to Cactus Imaging of Sydney, Australia, which purchased the machine in order to expand its services to existing customers, as well to help it win new accounts.

“Cactus Imaging has a history of embracing ground-breaking technologies, and we’re pleased to be the first company to order this new printer. It is our belief that this will give Cactus Imaging a quantum leap over its competitors,” says Keith Ferrel, of Cactus.

HP Scitex General Manager & Director of Asia Pacific, Yariv Avisar says the HP Scitex TJ8500 has the potential to print high quality jobs at high speeds, on an increased ranged of substrates, which enables screen printers and other print service providers to output jobs digitally from the same files they use for conventional production.
