Color Copy and Print which markets itself as a fast turnaround service to corporates and walk-in trade has been under single ownership for around 36 years. It is managed by Nicole Haywood on behalf of Brian Spooner a city accountant and QPCA Committee member.

It moved to its present site ten years ago from the West Plaza building, where is was known as the West Plaza Copy Centre.

The company's equipment upgrade the recent installation of an Ideal, the 5221-05 Hydraulic Clamp Guillotine through AM International to replace the 25-year old machine, also an Ideal guillotine.

Haywood says that while the old guillotine had served them well and was still very functional, it had long outlived its usefulness in terms of today's technology.

The new programmable machine shared the older one's solid construction, but its new features were a vast improvement, especially its clamping ability which enabled the cutting of digital work without any marking, she adds.

"It is one of the best pieces of machinery we have ever purchased. It makes cutting a breeze.

"Everyone can use it, it takes so little time to learn and it is very accurate. With the large volumes we do, it has made the job so much easier. We didn't even see it demonstrated. We just bought it with the knowledge of what it could do, and we certainly haven't been disappointed."

The company is increasingly producing digital printing on demand over offset and its equipment upgrade reflects this trend.
