Coveris, the world’s sixth largest plastic packaging company has purchased Elldex Packaging’s New Zealand and Australian businesses.

Murray Hine, divisional general manager at Elldex, released a statement in which he says, “With Elldex’s revenues now growing across both businesses, and with our new state-of-the-art factory in Christchurch nearing completion, this is a most exciting development for Elldex.

“We are combining the best of Australasian flexible packaging supply with one of the biggest and fastest growing international flexible packaging companies, bringing new technologies, process improvement, global customers and scale in our supply arrangements.”

He adds that despite the transition, the company will continue its npormal operation. He says, “Elldex has been progressively developed under Hellaby ownership, culminating in construction of the new food-grade manufacturing facility. Now we are part of a global packaging company bringing new opportunities and challenges. I wish to reassure all employees, suppliers, customers and all other stakeholders that it is business as usual.”

Formed by the combination of Exopack, Britton Group, Kobusch, PaccorR, Paragon Print & Packaging, and Kube Tech, Coveris has carved out a position in the development, manufacture, and sourcing of flexible and rigid plastic and paper packaging, as well as coatings solutions for various consumer and industrial end-use markets. With aggregate revenues of US$3bn ($4.2bn), the company manages 65 plants across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and China.
