Two Heidelberg solutions, the Primefire 106 and Prinect Press Center XL 2, have receivedthe annual Industrie Forum Design Award.
Stephan Plenz, member for the equipment management board at Heidelberg says, “Operation of our products must be intuitive and efficient. Customer benefit is therefore our main objective in design development. Digitisation and design innovations from Heidelberg constitute a perfect, uniform solution. This is impressively highlighted by winning the iF Design Award 2017 for the Primefire 106 and Prinect Press Center XL 2.”
Heidelberg calls the Primefire 106 the first industrial printing system for B1 format, combining digital and offset. The company adds that the Prinect Press Center XL 2, a new machine control station, offers a detailed ergonomic design for simple, uniform operator guidance for Heidelberg digital and offset printing systems.
Launched last year at drupa, Heidelberg’s digital inkjet sheetfed B1 Primefire 106 digital printing system has begun its pilot phase, at international packaging manufacturer Multi Packaging Solutions (MPS), based in the US. Landa Digital numbers among the other manufacturers racing to launch a B1 packaging digital press to the market.
The Industrie Forum Design award for design innovations began in 1953, aimed at celebrating and rewarding achievements in the area of product design. The International Forum Design, based in Hanover, presents the award.
