Tinson says his first objective will involve assembling the new management team to begin work on the company’s FY2013 sales objectives. Timson will relocate to Melbourne from Sydney to fulfil his new duties, he told i-grafix.com, “I will address all the challenges we are facing once I get my feet under the desk. Drupa was good for us and we will continue to close sales as a result of the power of our presence.”
He spoke about Heidelberg’s relationship with Ricoh, saying, “Ricoh is going well in Australia and Asia, we are now settled after parting with Konica Minolta. The customers still recognise that buying digital from Heidelberg is key to their business future.”
Timson joined Heidelberg in 1988 as account manager with Seligson and Clare, where he was responsible for sales of both printing equipment and related products within a designated territory.
Andy Vels Jensen will leave Heidelberg at the end of October, following 36 years at the print equipment giant, leaving the door open for Timson to step in. He told i-grafix, “I have nothing but good things to say about Richard, I believe he can take the company forward. It’s been a hard time for the printing industry but I have full faith in Richard. He has been part of my team for a long time now so it’s not like he’s a new face to the company or the industry. He has been involved with customers in Melbourne and in New Zealand on numerous occasions.”
In 1996, Timson was appointed regional sales manager for Heidelberg Queensland, and from 2002 to 2004 he was responsible as regional sales manager for all of the Northern Regions covering Queensland, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. In 2006, Timson took on the role of heading up the Northern Region and became an integral part of the HAN management team.
