Metiria Turei, spokesperson for Environmental Education for the Greens Party will outline the bill and answer questions, along with Doug Woolerton, NZ First spokesperson on the environment, Nanaia Mahuta, Labour’s associate Minister for the Environment, and Nicky Wagner, National’s associate spokesperson for environmental and RMA issues.

Two other workshops sponsored by the Packaging Council of New Zealand & the NZ packaging accord secretariat will also focus on sustainability and other green issues.

David Perhchard, billed as Europe’s foremost expert on recycling policy, will speak on his international experience of waste management, particularly
the EU Packaging & Packaging Waste Directive. He will outline policy options for packaging regulation (Australia and the UK) and the pitfalls
to be avoided.

Perchards has been engaged by some 280 companies and trade associations based in 26 countries working for clients in every continent except
Antarctica.

Helen Lewis, Centre for Design at RMIT University, Melbourne will speak on sustainable packaging for the supply chain, purchasing & product managers.

The full day workshop will also give an overview of packaging sustainability including drivers for change, the Australian National Packaging Covenant
and the New Zealand Packaging Accord, eco-design strategies, design for recycling and degradability, life cycle thinking and assessment,
communications and marketing.
