Dynamic Press was established in 1968 by Arie and Wilma van Weeren, and until Geon bought it was still owned by the family. Arie and Wilma's three sons Hans, Richard and Ray, of whom the latter two were twins, joined the business in the 1970s, with Hans and Richard the current directors. The family was rocked by the sudden fatal heart attack of the third son Ray on Jan 27 this year. Hans and Richard will continue to manage the business through the transition period.

Capitalised at $30m Dynamic Press is a quality assured (ISO9001:2000) printer specialising in direct mail. Dynamic's service encompass pre-press using the latest digital pre-press technology including CTP, printing boasting a complete range of latest modern sheet fed presses, with post-press facilities specialising in production of innovative self-mailers and supermailers, incorporating various gluing techniques including remoisturable glue. Dynamic also has a sizable large format printing operation. The company recently moved into new purpose built 7,500 sq ft premises in Dee Why.

The company's client list is thought to be one of the more impressive in the country, and it operates in several unidentified niche areas.

The acquisition is part of Geon Group's strategy of ongoing expansion in the Australian market in both print and mail facilities. On completion of the purchase, Geon Group will comprise a total of 24 operating businesses with 13 located in Australia and 11 in New Zealand. Geon is backed by private equity cash from the Grisham Group

Gordon Towell, group chief executive, Geon Group, said the Dynamic Press purchase was a key strategic initiative that would enable the Group to provide New South Wales customers with a broader product and service offering. He says, "Dynamic Press is an exceptional company that is highly regarded in its key market sectors with a blue chip customer base. We believe it will make a strong and immediate contribution to the Geon Group."

Hans van Weeren says "We are very pleased that Dynamic Press is now part of the Geon Group. It will allow us to provide our customers and staff with new opportunities and will help us meet the challenges of a competitive marketplace".
