GBC operators Mark Elman and Glenn Koepke set the record by running the laminator up to full speed, then counting down the sheets as they passes through the system.

A fully accredited Guinness Book of World Records adjudicator was on hand to check the number of sheets, and to check that they had gone through without accruing any creases or air pockets.

The equipment responsible for the sizzling throughput was GBC’s new 8500HS Cyclone laminator, which runs at speeds of up to 500 feet a minute. It will accommodate sheets up to a B1+ size of 112cm, with three sheet length options of 79cm, 112cm and 142cm. Feeding the sheets at high speed is an integrated Mabeg 1,000 sheet feeder.

GBC says that the blistering speed is achieved partly through its new advanced adhesion mechanism developed for the Cyclone, which improves bonding at all speeds.
