The certification also stretches to the printers of the Epson x800 series, along with the Epson Stylus 4000/7600/9600 printers.

The FOGRA 39L standard is the successor to the FOGRA 27L, which has been established for some years. It characterises the printing conditions for the offset standard.

Extensive experience from day-to-day offset printing practice was taken into account in the new, optimized 39L standard, GMG says.

Leading associations, such as FOGRA, ECI and bvdm, have been recommending use of this new standard since the beginning of this year.

At present the new proofing profiles are available free of charge to all registered users in the support area of the GMG Web site. Similarly, the corresponding standards for GMG ProofControl can also be downloaded.

An increasing number of new proofing systems have been certified by FOGRA in recent months including GMG’s DotProof halftone system with the new HP Designjet Z2100 and the two GMG proofing papers GMG ProofPaper semimatte 250, plus GMG ProofPaper gloss 260.

To enable users to integrate the new printing standards smoothly, GMG will provide corresponding GMG ColorServer CMYK conversion profiles from ISO Coated (27L) to ISO Coated V2 (39L), free of charge in the course of the first quarter.
