The company's most recent acquisitions, a Morgana DigiFold, purchased through CPI, and a Heidelberg ST350 saddle stitcher are the latest, though director Phil Woodworth says they are definitely not the last.
The company has completely upgraded its equipment in the past 18 months, and is shortly expecting a new folder and pressure stacker to be installed this month.
The company was established just under seven years ago and is now run by directors Phil and Roger Fleming. Phil says the upgrade was necessary to enable them to work both faster and more efficiently without having to increase staff numbers, he says.
The Finishing Company services the wider Auckland area and currently has a staff of 10.
Of the DigiFold, he says: "We needed a machine that would both fold and crease because some of the work we get in has been pre-creased. If you put this through conventional folders it can come out marked. We needed something that would take care of a number of our clients and this was the only machine that had both function."
The Morgana DigiFold machine has been designed to handle jobs from digital colour systems and heavy cross-grained stocks. It is fully automated, compact and easy to use with a suction-fed capability.
It is the only fully automated folder using a creasing rule and matrix with the ability to crease material before folding it, and it is used to prevent cracking during the folding process.
