Press Knives was established by Bruce Wilson 28 years ago specialising in wood bolted clicking knives, to service the apparel, leather goods, packaging and textile industries.

Bruce is one of the very few tradesmen still using this skill commercially and is very well known within these industries, says Paul and Trish Grace, of Fine Formes.

“Adding his extensive industry knowledge and technical skills to our up to date technology and automated equipment, will mean we can service a much wider range of industries including the printing, label and packaging trades we already provide dies to,” says Trish.

“It is a win win situation for both companies because it also means faster turnaround times for all our clients and gives us all a bit more flexibility in running the business efficiently.”

Bruce says that it is a pity that the skills for wood rule knives (knives to fit under a clicking press) are now employed by so few people. He believes he is the only one in New Zealand to make this type of knife, which is far more accurate and sharper than a welded knife, he says.
