The TIPA Awards are voted for each year by the editors of 30 of Europe’s top photographic magazines who are the members of TIPA.

In making the award the judges said that the Epson UltraChrome K3 ink technology is a breakthrough in professional printing.
It incorporates eight new colour pigments improving the quality and durability of both colour and black & white printing. Epson printers using the K3 system can utilise two different black ink modes – Photo Black or Matte Black, and these allow the usage of a variety of media types from colour proofing stock to fine art textures.

The Epson UltraChrome K3 Ink is a resin-coated pigment ink that achieves a high level of longevity and durability, and the characteristics reduce metamerism effects. To support these impressive inksets, Epson offers a full range of UltraChrome K3 Printers from 13 inch to 44 inch printing width, the award said.

Epson’s business manager prographics, Craig Heckenberg, says Epson’s long term focus on high quality research and development provides real benefits to professional and amateur photographers with outstanding products like UltraChrome ink that extend the boundaries of photography.

Epson also won two other TIPA Awards for 2006, the Epson Perfection V750 Pro scanner (Australian model equivalent V700) was voted the “Best Flatbed Photo Scanner”, and the Epson Stylus Photo RX640 (Australian model equivalent RX650) was voted the “Best A4 Multifunction Photo Printer”.
