Anthony Parnemann, manager of South East Asia for EFI, ran the workshop and says, “We were able to review and discuss the latest options and trends. We spent time looking at the design process and the correlation between the controller and the printing machine itself.

Gillian Nicholls, national manager production systems at Konica Minolta says, “We were overwhelmed by the response; we had representatives from over 20 companies attend. Anthony gave them practical advice about the techniques available to them, offering them tips on how to print solid colours, how to predictably reproduce colour and how to optimise their design time.

“They also gained an understanding of the importance of calibration and setting profiles into the machines. It’s about matching what you see on your screen with what you get as your print output and how you achieve that. After attending the workshop, I’m sure they will be able to improve their colour reproduction workflow and shorten their turnaround times.”

Parnemann also covered variable data printing and spoke about EFI’s latest generation technology. He adds, “There was definitely new stuff for many of them so it was time well spent; a good crowd and a good group to work with.”

Nicholls concludes, “Design for digital is about creating an awareness around colour and design elements: what’s possible and what is not possible. At Konica Minolta, we want to promote the industry and the people in it. This is something we can do to make the printing industry successful.”
