The MAKO NEWSmatic HS (HS for High Speed) platesetter increases productivity levels to over 120 plates per hour and employs ECRM’s
patented FleXarm slip sheet removal system that makes automated CTP production a reality for newspaper publishers, ECRM says.
It is useful for all popular single-width newspaper presses (from Berliner to Goss), accommodating the widest range of web widths up to a maximum format of 635mm x 927mm.
ECRM will be exhibiting the new device live at the show with a Glunz & Jensen online processor.
ECRM product manager John Marzec says newspaper publishers are in a constant search for higher productivity, and the company believes a higher-speed platesetter is an obvious attraction.
“The automated features of the MAKO NEWSmatic HS are beneficial, because it enables plates to be imaged and processed automatically and without human interaction. It’s these time savings that are critical to deadline-sensitive publishers.”
The fully automated MAKO NEWSmatic HS features a straight-through plate path eliminating complex load/unload cycles. Sensors track slip-sheets through pick-up, removal and disposal using patented slip sheet compacting technology.
ECRM’s high-capacity plate cassette and trolley can hold up to 340 8-gauge (0.2mm) plates or 250 12-gauge (0.3mm) plates at one time. To provide added flexibility, the optical configuration includes eight resolutions from 1016 to 2540 dpi and three anamorphic resolution sets (1016 x 2032 dpi,1200 x 2400 dpi, and 1270 x 2540 dpi).
