Part of its message will include the debut of two new solutions designed to compliment the campaign, scheduled for Digital Print World in London in October.
For the first time, the new GMP-Protopic 520 Digital Laminator, designed to combat the problems of laminating digital print, will be on show. Exerting one tonne of pressure onto the roller, the easy to use and cost-effective on-demand laminator addresses common problems associated with laminating digitally produced printed work, such as curling, Duplo says.
The GMP-Protopic 520 – the first of its kind – runs at a maximum speed of 15m per minute and uses GMP’s polynex digital supermelt films, which guarantee perfect lamination on all leading digital media.
Duplo will also for the first time demonstrate an automised end-to-end digital finishing solution consisting of its new multi-functional MKF-35 Knife Folder coupled in-line to its DC-645 Production Colour Finisher. The DC-645 slits, cuts and creases the sheet as well as compensates for image shift, whilst the MKF-35 then completes the job by folding the document – from press to finished product in one single pass.
Capable of running at up to 17,000 folds per hour, the flexible MKF-35 can be used with materials up to 3mm thick, including paper, cardboard, brochures, and pre-folded sheets, and can be operated as a stand-alone machine or moved around the finishing department and placed in-line to a folder, press, bookletmaker or docucutter.
Coupled to any bookletmaker, the MKF-35 can be used to fold booklets in half, thus reducing the size of the finished product and achieving huge cost-savings in response to the new Royal Mail Pricing In Proportion charges, Duplo says.
DPW will also be the public arena for the launch of Duplo’s latest industry commitment to bring finishing to the top of the print production agenda, and encourage printers to ‘Think Again’.
The first major initiative of Duplo’s multi-faceted campaign entitled ‘Think Again’ will be the launch of a series of educational guides, aimed to stimulate interest and understanding about how to find innovative finishing solutions to increase profits.
