Epson sees the Fiery acquisition driving further growth in its business

Digital front end (DFE) provider Fierywill head to drupa 2024 with a range of solutions.

The company’s solutions will cover the likes of packaging, industrial, sign and display graphics, direct to film (DTF), direct to garment (DTG), and other specialty production printers. Fiery says its technology makes producing all types of digital print jobs easier to ensure exceptional colour, precision, efficiency, and profitability. It adds that visitors will learn how Fiery is super powering the print industry using the latest AI, cloud, and automation technology in booth B10 in Hall 8B.

Toby Weiss, chief executive at Fiery says, “At drupa, we hope to inspire and help print shops to think digital, embrace emerging applications, and unlock their superpowers to get the most productivity out of their print and imaging investments now and in the future.”

AI powered solutions

Fiery’s newest AI-driven features include Fiery InkWise for ink stock management and a new intelligent job ticketing assistant. Fiery says InkWise addresses the complexities of manual ink management by introducing an AI-powered assistant that predicts when and how much ink should be ordered, allowing customers to keep reduced inventory levels. The new AI-driven job ticketing feature analyses jobs and automatically prepares job tickets, covering media selection, prepress processes, finishing, and more.

Weiss says, “We are continuously exploring how AI technology can make Fiery workflows as easy as interacting with a virtual assistant. At drupa, we are excited to demonstrate AI’s ability to define print settings based on file content and propose tasks prior to ticket creation. Leveraging AI in the job ticketing process helps boost productivity, enabling operators of all skill levels to quickly process a variety of print jobs.”

Prepress workflow

Fiery will preview the upcoming release of Fiery JobFlow prepress workflow software that intelligently automates job preparation steps to ensure files are print-ready with minimal manual intervention. See how it uses AI to improve image resolution, simplify preflight reports and enable easy printing by scanning a barcode, or using voice commands with your phone.

Labels and packaging

The company will showcase an end-to-end packaging and label workflow, from prepress using Esko software to the Fiery Impress DFE, which then seamlessly sends jobs directly to Global Inkjet Systems (GIS) printhead electronics. Fiery Impress is an off-the-shelf DFE designed to accelerate OEM time to market, reduce custom development, and get end customers in production, fast. It elevates industrial production, combining the streaming speed, image quality, brand colour accuracy, and automation customers need with the flexibility press manufacturers need to integrate with any workflow or press.

Weiss says, “Fiery DFEs are already powering market-leading presses like Landa and EFI Nozomi, with over 100 high speed industrial installations. Now with Fiery Impress, industrial press manufacturers can rapidly deploy a custom-tailored DFE subscription that meets precise customer requirements, with little to no custom development required on their part. The flexibility of Fiery Impress makes it the ideal DFE to power any industrial production workflow.”

Digital factory

Fiery will also highlight its Fiery Digital Factory, SignLab, EngraveLab and Pro Vehicle Outlines software, showing how they help prepare artwork and manage production for digital DTG, DTF, engraving, wide format print and cut, and vehicle wrap applications.

A live demonstration of Fiery Digital Factory RIP software with DTF printer partners will show how to achieve colour reproduction, accuracy, and vibrancy on a variety of substrates. Visitors can learn how to save production time, increase profitability, and reduce material waste using features that boost whites, automate file preparation, and leverage true shape nesting.

Fiery DFEs, including the latest Fiery FS600 Pro platform and Fiery XF 8, offer enhanced automation, colour, and job processing tools to increase productivity and digital press performance. Combining them with Fiery Command WorkStation creates one central job management solution that transcends printer brands and models, according to Fiery

The company adds that drupa visitors will see how Fiery DFEs superpower colour management with solutions like Fiery ColorGuard, a cloud-based colour verification tool that now includes a spot colour verification feature that takes care of brand colours in the same controlled way as process colours. Or learn how Fiery Color Profiler Suite offers enhancements for expanded gamut printing and output verification.

Fiery partner booths include Brother, Canon, EFI, Fujifilm, Konica Minolta, Kyocera, Landa, Mimaki, and Ricoh.
