Based in Onehunga, and owned by business partners Jim Qiu and Shane Fang, the company already draws its customers from East Tamaki in the South to Avondale in the west through to the central city.

With the growth of its smaller run folding work, it has just bought a Multimaster CAS 35 computer controlled 2-plate folder through Allied Machinery Services (AMS).

AMS sources MB equipment through GBR Corp in the USA and AMS's Ross Hudson is fully trained on servicing this equipment, having been trained by MB in Germany.

Jim Qiu says that while they already run a larger MB folder, they purchased the Multimaster CAS to service their growing workload of A4 to DLE folding.

"We found we were having to stop our larger folding jobs to put through some smaller run DLE folds so we have bought this machine for most of the pamphlet and folders that we get in on a daily basis," he says.

"The folder has proved very easy to set up and is so easy to work that anyone in the factory can run it. We typically fold up to 2000 pamphlets at a time very quickly and we don't have to stop the larger machine to do it."

Jim says that in the past two months alone they have had up to 20,000 brochures to fold to DLE in shorter run jobs alone."

The 35 range has been designed to counter the problem of digitally printed inks which are prone to cracking. The CAS version provides fully automated setting of the fold plates and rollers.

AMS says the rollers are more giving than standard rollers and greatly reduce the potential for cracking.

"For a little extra these machines can also be fitted with scoring tools to pre-crease A4 and reduce the change of cracking even further. Our technicians can install, set up and train any operator and we can provide a full spare parts and back up service for MB folding machinery. We not only provide a service for new equipment, we can look at any machine that needs a make-over."

The MB range includes friction and suction feeding, optional CAS computer control and memory, total and batch counting, cross folding, double sheet control, perforating, slitting and sound ergonomic design.
