The TIPA awards highlight 34 of the best imaging products in the market and are chosen by an association of independent, non-profit making publishers.

The IPF5000 is the smallest in a new range of printers released by Canon which includes a 6000, 7000 and 9000, all of which will be available in New Zealand from July 1.

Graham McDonald, Canon New Zealand’s sales and marketing manager for print and graphic arts says the company will be launching the Imageprograf range along with other new equipment into New Zealand next month.

On awarding Canon Europe the prize, TIPA judges highlighted the professional quality images the Imageprograf IPF5000 printer produced, which were made possible through Canon’s new 12-colour ink set of its Lucia pigment inks. All the Imageprograf machines use 12 colours.

The inks are claimed to provide the widest colour gamut in their class and to answer the market’s demand for accurate colour reproduction on a variety of media, Canon says.

The printer, which is aimed at the graphics arts market, was launched to provide the market requirement of colour accuracy and consistency at speed, while remaining reliable and user-friendly.

Anne Sharp, LFP product marketing manager at Canon UK, says Canon has worked hard to distinguish itself as a key player in the large format market and the large format press business has grown across Europe alone, by 45 per cent in the last 12 months.

Graham McDonald says growth in New Zealand has similarly been “huge”.
