Ruth Cobb, membership services manager for PrintNZ, says that, with just a week to go, members can still register for the conference. She says, “The conference offers a fantastic opportunity for participants to learn from some quality speakers, both domestic and international, on aspects of business that are relevant to our industry.”
Keynote Gareth Kiernan, economist and director at Infometrics, who spoke at the last conference, will comment on the world and local economies, and he offers a New Zealand context focusing on what is happening in specific markets which are big customers of the printing industry such as retail and tourism.
Dale Wallis, an executive director of the British Printing Industries Federation, has responsibility for membership product and services delivery in the UK. He has 27 years experience in the printing industry starting his apprenticeship with Goss, manufacturing newspaper and magazine printing presses. Since joining the BPIF in 2002, he has focussed on supporting and guiding members in improving their environmental performance to improve the bottom line through good waste management, lean manufacturing, and he has recently developed a carbon footprint calculator in line with PAS 2050.
Andy Woodwark, a procurement specialist with more than 27 years experience on both sides of the tender process, will give guidance and provide practical tools to deliver good responses to ROIs and RFPs: what works and what doesn’t work. He will offer an insight into the government procurement reforms.
Human resources expert Esther Livingston has over twenty years experience in a wide range of business and human resources challenges, activities and functions. Her session will focus on sharpening the decision making process around recruitment decision making and include some tips for moving people in the unlikely event of a false positive – i.e. hiring someone you shouldn’t have.
Cobb says, “We are grateful to the companies that have recognised the professional development opportunities this provides our industry and have committed to sponsoring conference. These are principal sponsors Fuji Xerox, Heidelberg, hubergroup and Spicers Paper, and conference sponsors Aarque Graphics, BJ Ball Group, Cyber/Ryobi, Ferrostaal, Fujifilm, Geon, Konica Minolta and New Zealand Printer.
