Blanket wash saves waste

Goss International has announced a new collaboration with automatic blanket washing systems manufacturer Elettra Srl.
 
The companies say their association aims to provide new benefits for commercial press users by providing waste reductions that deliver a rapid return on investment. According to Graham Trevett, vice president of sales at Goss Americas, says, “At Goss we have been systematically working through our product portfolio looking for ways to enhance our service to customers, with a particular focus on waste.

Elettra has a portfolio of VOC-free automatic blanket washer systems featuring cloth technology. Two easy-retrofit Elettra automatic blanket wash systems that offer productivity benefits for new and existing Goss commercial presses include its FastWash and CombiWash solutions.
 
The FastWash, installed inside the print units, maintains a uniform mechanical and chemical action across the web width. A full FastWash cleaning cycle takes up to 12 seconds when performed while the press is in production or, at the end of the job, at a crawling press speed it takes up to 80 seconds.
 
The CombiWash applies cleaning solution across the entire web at the paper infeed stage. The company says waste figures average at less than 300 copies for a double-circumference heatset press and less than 600 revolutions on the Goss Sunday 3000 and 2000 presses.
