Many PrintNZ members will be looking to use the survey, which landed just prior to Christmas, in their new year planning.

Responses to the 2007 survey were up more than 30 per cent on the 2006 version, covering 80 more companies and almost 2000 more employees.

Distributed free to PrintNZ members, and with a cover price of $300, the survey provides a wealth of information on every aspect of the industry, from wages and charge-out rates to forecasts about the future.

The survey also includes a report on the state of the industry, prepared by Infometrics, in which it outlines the year to March 2007 as financially a highly successful one in the context of the past decade.

The key to this improvement has not been increases in demand, but increases in efficiency which, if they can be sustained, will stand the industry in good stead going forward.

The survey also showed a high level of optimism amongst respondents, with almost three quarters of those surveyed believing that their business will grow in the next 12 months, and 88 per cent believing that they will see growth over the next three years.
