The optional TwinClamp device on Polar machines evens out height variations in the material being cut and substantially enhances productivity.

Polar says the TwinClamp option allows operators to increase the clamp opening by up to 100 per cent when bank notes are cut which effectively doubles the cutting output.

TwinClamp ensures that such materials are constantly pressed while they are cut and in this way prevents a loss of quality that might result from a higher clamp opening. Material handling is improved by more than 50 per cent.

“When producing high-quality printed matter varying inking, perforations and embossing often produce different heights in the same ream. This makes handling not only more difficult, but produces problems in the cutting by increasing tolerances, etc,” a Polar-Mohr spokesman says.

“Printers often tackle these difficulties by using a lower clamp opening, but this decreases efficiency significantly.”

The TwinClamp device was developed in cooperation with Amsterdam print shop Joh. Enschedé, where a POLAR 115 has been fitted with one since January 2006.

“The customer has already realised benefits from this value added process and Polar is pleased to say that they have received orders from Japan, Great Britain and France,” the spokesman adds.

He says the feature is not restricted to banknote printers, but can provide benefits to label printers in increasing the output of the cutting process.

TwinClamp can only be purchased together with a new high-speed cutter.
