Alastair Hadley, PacPrint 09 Chairman, says, “PacPrint 09 may be held in Australia, but today it’s very much a trans-Tasman event. With fewer exhibitions in the region, we are looking forward to welcoming the largest ever overseas contingent, made up primarily of New Zealand visitors, to what we anticipate will be the biggest and best PacPrint exhibition in history.”

Melbourne hosts the event from 26-30 May next year. Hadley believes that, with the Melbourne Exhibition Centre booked to capacity, a range of trends and technologies promised by exhibitors, will provide the best opportunity available over the next four years for kiwi business owners and their staff to educate themselves, identify possibilities for their businesses and make plans for the future.

He says, “For a start, you’ll see products and services from more than 300 separate exhibitors, including commercial releases of many ‘drupa release’ technologies, and many of these will be shown ‘live’ on stand with a busy program of demonstrations and presentations.

“Visitors will also have the opportunity to arrange one-on-one discussions with suppliers (including many local reps attending from New Zealand) and attend a series of specially convened forums on a wide range of current issues from sustainability and the environment, through to productivity and profitability. Add to that the chance to meet with colleagues, gain a true perspective on what’s happening across the industry…and perhaps get a peek at what the competition’s doing…and you have an unmissable show.”

Joan Grace, chief executive of PrintNZ, expects to see plenty of NZ content and to make visitors feel at home, PrintNZ will organise a special ‘Kiwi Home Base’ on its stand. She says, “As the largest and most comprehensive exhibition in this part of the world for the next four years, PacPrint 09 is without a doubt the ‘must see’ exhibition for New Zealand companies. This is a vital opportunity for everyone involved in the graphic arts and related areas in New Zealand to see the very best the world has to offer, right on our doorstep.”

PrintNZ will also host a special Kiwi function, following the very successful formula of PacPrint 05. Grace advises, “To make the most of the opportunities offered by PacPrint, however, it’s important for NZ attendees to plan their visit carefully. Book your flights and accommodation early. Set aside at least a couple of days to be there, and plan what you want to see and what you’d like to find out well ahead of time. Set up appointments with your suppliers. Bring your key staff, bring your key clients – it’s the best chance you’ll have to get them up to speed with the industry.”
