Mike Boyle, former general manager of Canon Professional Print Australia is the new head of HP GSB (graphics services business) in the Asia Pacific and Japan.
Boyle replaces Gido van Praag who leaves the role after five years to become vice president of GSB EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), HP’s biggest region for its commercial print business. Van Praag says, “Mike Boyle is an excellent choice for HP and for the market. His experience, knowledge and drive fit perfectly with HP and the requirements of the dynamic market in the region.”
Boyle joins HP as the company experiences major growth across the region and across its brands, with HP Indigo the dominant digital press in commercial print. It has also commenced a major push into packaging, on the back of a 70 per cent market share for its digital brand Indigo. HP now supplies digital flexo and digital corrugated printing systems, and by next year expects to see the fruit of its collaboration with KBA.
According to van Praag the HP Indigo digital press, supplied in New Zealand and Australia by Currie Group, now sells as many units in the Asia Pacific Japan region as it does in Europe.
The news of change at the top comes on the eve of HP’s annual Awards of Excellence, which will see the region’s top HP printers pitted against each other
