Werner Dornscheidt, president and chief executive of drupa organiser Messe Düsseldorf, will attend the presentation along with Dr Markus Heering, managing director of the VDMA, the Association of German Machine and System Engineers.

Robert Laing, manager of Messe Reps. & Travel, the drupa representative in New Zealand says, “This event provides an opportunity to gain a briefing on what drupa 2016 offers.”

Under the motto of ‘touch the future,’ drupa 2016 will focus on future-oriented technologies such as printed electronics; 3D printing; and inkjet printing, with its industrial applications. Organisers see these innovative technologies driving the market forward and opening up opportunities for growth worldwide, primarily in packaging, functional, and industrial printing.

The Association of German Machine and System Engineers (VDMA) anticipates an annual growth rate of 25 percent for the global 3D printing market, currently estimated at around US$2.2bn ($3.45bn).

The drupa global insights report ‘The effects of the internet on printing – the digital flood’ says that the internet and digital communication overall has changed print. Interaction has become important as printers come to grips with big data, web-to-print, variable data printing, and internet-supported tools such as augmented reality and QR codes. Covering these facets of the industry, drupa 2016 will highlight multi-channel printing.
