Epson has announced its large-format printers and an industrial robot have won the Red Dot Award in the Product Design category.
This marks the fourth successive year that Epson products have received recognition in this award. The company also says the Red Dot judges have recognised Epson printers for their second successive Red Dot: Best of Best Award.
Created in 1955 in Germany, and organised by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen Design Centre, the Red Dot Design Award has a jury of experts to evaluate products announced during the past two years. The jury selects the best designs based on nine criteria, including degree of innovation; functionality; ergonomics; ecological compatibility; and durability. Entries came from around the world.
The award winning Epson printers were the SureColor SC-P7560 and SureColor SC-P9560. Epson says these printers reproduce high-quality images in fine art, proofing, and photo laboratories, adding that they provide the functional operability of high-quality professional tools, such as internal lighting to immediately check printed material and a neutral colour that does not interfere when making colour adjustments.
The company says its entry-level VT6L six-axis robot automates simple transfer operations previously undertaken by humans. It has integrated the main unit and the controller to enable space saving and ease of use.
