Mainland Print s announced it will acquire the business of Rolleston based commercial web print operation Inkwise.
Established in 1993, Inkwise employs a staff of 77 people and prints magazines, catalogues, newspapers and a range of other print products, operating at its site in the Izone Business Park in Rolleston,
Bruce Bell, a 50 per cent shareholder of Inkwise and owner of the Ashburton Guardian, says, “This is a proud moment for Inkwise and our staff. Guardian Print was first established in Ashburton in 1993 and transitioned to Inkwise when the company moved to the Izone in Rolleston in 2014. I am very grateful to our loyal staff and pleased also our business is joining a group of established and successful printing industry participants.”
Mainland Print runs as a joint venture between Allied Press of Dunedin and Webstar (a division of the Blue Star Group) headquartered in Auckland’s West. Allied Press, a large media business, has its own newspapers, magazines, commercial print and television businesses across the South Island.
Webstar has print operations in both West Auckland and Masterton printing magazines, retail catalogues, direct mail and directories for many of New Zealand’s most well-known brands. Blue Star Group, owned by Mercury Capital & Tom Sturgess, has its headquarters in Auckland.
The companies should complete the transaction at the end of September, subject to certain conditions, including regulatory approval.
