Paper supplier Rockstock has released S-Eco, a new range of its paper made from stone.
Alan Good, director at the Stone Paper Company, the New Zealand representative for Rockstock, says, “This is an exciting new development for Rockstock. The new product range of Rockstock lower density rich mineral papers has been developed for reel fed printing.
“Printers can achieve excellent print results with the new product. Applications include self-adhesives, tray mats, in-mould label, lightweight bags, high volume flyers, and laminates. The example shown was produced on a Heidelberg CD press with roll fed feeder attached.”
Good cites a number of advantages for the paper. He says, “It is waterproof, greaseproof, strong, food grade, freezer grade, and a great print surface for web offset, flexographic, and gravure.
“Environmentally, it offers numerous benefits. It is made using no water, no acid, base or bleach, and no airborne, waterborne or solid waste. Plus it uses little energy. In fact, the factory runs on solar energy panels on its roof. It is recyclable (No. 2), photo-degradable, and it will compost commercially providing sufficient heat is present.
Certifications include Enviro Choice certified (two categories), Cradle2Cradle, RoHs, REACH, Iso 14001 certified, and FDA food grade, non toxic, no halogens.”
