New Zealand Printer magazine has launched the first New Zealand Power 50 event, which invites all print people to recognise the leading innovators and influencers in our local print industry.
Already votes are flying in thick and fast, with the polls having been open from Wednesday morning.
The Power 50 comprises the print identities nominated by their peers and colleagues through an online vote on newzealandprint.co.nz as the most influential or innovative in Kiwi print in 2017, in their own business or on the industry as a whole.

Bruce Craig, editor of New Zealand Printer says, “Our local print industry has excellent leaders: people who push themselves and move their companies forward; people with the courage to make difficult and, at times, unpopular decisions; people who refuse to accept standing still as an option.
“Working in a dynamic industry, and a rapidly moving business environment, our print leaders face challenges and create opportunities that move print in the right direction.
“The New Zealand Power 50 aims to recognise those people, in the best way possible, through their peers casting their votes to acknowledge their achievements.
“Well established in the UK and Australia, the Power 50 operates as a means for the industry to recognise and applaud its top print people. New Zealand Printer takes some pride in bringing bring Power 50 to New Zealand, and we know the print community will also appreciate its arrival.”
Influence and innovation crosses various fields and disciplines. These include developing new markets; new techniques and new solutions; new working practices; introducing new technology, buying new businesses; harnessing the power of the internet; lobbying government successfully; and developing positive outcomes in print training and in print education.
Voting for Power 50 opens today on the New Zealand Printer daily news web site newzealandprinter.co.nz. It contains a list of more than 100 people recognised as innovative or influential or both during the year. However, printers can also nominate anyone not on the list. A voter can vote for any number of people, not just one.
The voting window will close on October 23, and we will reveal the Power 50 list at a special event on Thursday December 7 at the Maritime Museum in Auckland. All nominees will receive an invitation.
