Textile printer manufacturer Kornit Digital, has managed to get its digital roll-to-roll printing system, the Kornit Allegro, on to a prime time television show.
Kornit says the printer will play a critical role in the next episode of the Emmy-nominated Project Runway. In this American reality competition show, fashion designers compete to create the best fashion pieces with a limited amount of time and resources.
In the Sink or Swim episode, participants have to create a swimsuit and cover-up design. They will see their custom design printed on the Kornit Allegro, which offers a print width of 1.8m.
Kornit calls the Allegro the world’s only single-step digital textile printing system designed for high-speed end-to-end production. The system features an integrated pre-treatment technology and works on a range of fabrics. Kornit says the Allegro integrates all production steps in a single, integrated production line, removing the need for pre- and post-treatments such as steaming and washing.
Kornit says the system’s benefits include shorter turnaround times; cutting out intermediators; eliminating inventory cost; and energy. And water savings.
